Effective Tuesday, June 2, 2026, all Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) water systems are moving to Stage 2 water restrictions in an effort to conserve watering in anticipation of continuing drought conditions. Shellwood and Dogwood water systems are moving to Stage 3 water restrictions.

In Stage 2 all outdoor watering, including sprinkling and conventional irrigation systems can occur up to 2 hours maximum, one designated day per week between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 a.m.

  • Even numbered addresses: Wednesday
  • Odd numbered addresses: Sunday

Hand-watering, micro/drip irrigation subject to daily maximum for food or ornamental gardens is allowed. Watering in the morning or evening is always best as it reduces water lost to evaporation.

Visit the Cowichan Adapts website to learn more about water conservation, what is allowed during water restrictions, including a Water Restrictions Map where you can type in your address to find the current stage of restrictions on each water system in the region: https://cowichanadapts.ca/.
