Celebrating Water Festival 2024
UncategorizedJoin the Cowichan Lake and River Stewardship Society for a day play, learning, tours and fun challenges. This year’s theme is “Weir All Connected”.
Saturday, July 20, 10am to 2 pm in Saywell Park. Lake Cowichan.
Weir Celebrating Water! The Koksilah Low Flow Working Group, a collaboration of government, industry, and stewardship organizations, is placing signs throughout the Koksilah watershed to encourage everyone to conserve water when the stream flows are low.
In the Koksilah watershed, research is showing a strong connection between groundwater and streamflow because of the substrate beneath our feet. So water that is stored or slowed anywhere in the watershed – whether in headwater wetlands and trees, farm ponds, garden mulches and soils, or left in our streams and aquifers – helps bridge the dry times.
