Low Streamflow Advisory Ended, Drought Level Reduced
UncategorizedAs a result of recent rainfall, the BC River Forecast Centre is ending the low streamflow advisory for Vancouver Island. The provincial drought level for Vancouver Island has also been reduced to Level 3, Very Dry.
From the Advisory:
“The recent rainfall events on Vancouver Island have improved streamflow conditions for most of the island’s streams. Currently, streams on the west coast and in northern areas of Vancouver Island are well above normal conditions for this time of year. Some streams are still rising, while others have stabilized at flows above normal conditions. Streamflow conditions on the east side of Vancouver Island have also improved this week and most natural streams are above normal for this time of year. Some of the regulated streams are currently above critical low flow levels, but still below normal flow conditions for this time of year.”
Stage 3 water restrictions remain in effect throughout the Cowichan Region. Water restrictions are reviewed regularly by local governments and may be rescinded when conditions warrant.
